Recording tips and essentials

Important tips

  • Check battery level and memory before every use

  • Replace batteries proactively

  • Keep the recorder unobstructed and close to the conversation

Recording Quality Tips (All Devices)

To ensure recordings are usable:

  • Turn off TVs, radios and noisy appliances

  • Avoid background noise (e.g. boiling kettles)

  • Keep dogs and young children away if possible

  • Set up calmly and avoid rushing

If you are contacted unexpectedly and cannot record, explain it is an inconvenient time and arrange a call back.

Test Your Equipment Now (Required)

Please test both devices now as part of this briefing.

Video recorder test

  • Make a short 20–30 second video recording

  • Stop the recording

  • Confirm the file has saved correctly

Audio recorder test

  • Make a short 20–30 second audio recording

  • Stop the recording

  • Confirm the file has saved and plays back

You do not need to delete test recordings – Mindset will remove these once the equipment is returned.
